Creating Order from Complexity Case Study

Silverbug, IT Consultancy and IT Support business has multiple sites including offices in London, Leeds and Milton Keynes. In 2012, they merged with three Admiral Group divisions – Admiral IT, Admiral Network Infrastructure and Admiral Education Solutions – and needed HR project management support.

Challenge

The merger of four business entities meant that the HR function had multiple sources of data and processes. They needed to establish an HR function for the new enlarged business that was streamlined and adopted best practice across the sector.

Tugela People were approached to provide HR project management services. To start, Tugela reviewed the various HR infrastructures and processes, finding that although some data sets overlapped, many were incompatible and spread across multiple systems.

The challenge was to transition the organisation to an integrated HR function with minimal disruption.

Solution

Tugela People began by:

  • Meeting with key decision makers to determine desired outcomes
  • Process mapping to understand current processes and systems being used
  • Identify employee touchpoints and gap analysis

Based on these finding Tugela then helped to put into place HR processes and policies that could support them into the future.

Outcome

A single set of harmonised processes and policies that delivered value and enhanced the employee experience.

Owen Daley, the Managing Director of Silverbug Ltd say: ‘Tugela People quickly got to know our business and its needs and in a short time was focusing to further develop our benefits, harmonisation, grading and general employment practices for use now and the future. We have found him to be responsive and proactive in their support to us and we would not hesitate in recommending them.”
