With over a decade of experience and more than 250 successful implementations globally, we help organisations select, implement, and optimise cloud-based HR and payroll systems that genuinely work for their workforce and their goals.

Tugela People was founded by Thomas Schilling, who spent 20 years working in HR across large multinational companies. Through that experience, he saw first-hand both the transformative potential of the right people system — and the very real cost of implementing one badly.
Tugela People was born to change that. Our focus has always been mid-sized companies of 50 to 5,000 employees: organisations with enterprise-level complexity but without the dedicated in-house teams to navigate it alone.
We became the inaugural implementation partner to Fairsail, one of the first cloud-based HRIS platforms built to engage and develop workforces. By 2017, we had implemented a significant proportion of Fairsail’s global client base, becoming its leading delivery partner.
Fairsail was acquired by Sage and rebranded as Sage People. We retained our partnership and expanded our service offering, establishing dedicated Professional Services and Managed Services divisions, alongside certification to deliver Sage People training.
We broadened our ecosystem further, forging new technology partnerships to bring clients best-in-breed solutions across HR, payroll, learning, recruitment, and more.
Our team of consultants and associates combines real-world international HR experience with deep technical expertise — a combination that is genuinely rare in our industry, and central to everything we do.
