It's time for another 'Team Spotlight'.

Ade_Team-Spotlight-Mar-2022 This month, we had the pleasure of interviewing Ade Anonye, our Management Accountant, whose role covers a wide range of tasks and responsibilities. Ade joined Tugela People just over a year and has recently celebrated her 1st anniversary. When asked what her role encompasses, Ade said, "to sum it up in a few sentences, it involves overseeing the end-to-end finance operations, working capital management, and overall financial analysis and planning of TugelaPeople. It also includes looking to continuously improve on procedures and financial controls".

What is your background, and why did you choose to be an Accountant?

Prior to joining Tugela People, I've worked in the finance department of various industries ranging from kid's entertainment (Disney), the music industry (BMG) and the builder's merchant industry (Travis Perkins).

Finance seemed like the obvious choice for me as I am pretty good with numbers. I used to do multiplication and sums in my head just for fun. I'm fascinated by the art of numbers and how they have an impact on our everyday lives.

What Inspired you to join Tugela People?

The thirst for wanting to be a part of an SME, that keeps people's needs at the centre of the business. Tugela People ticks all the boxes perfectly in this area.

After a year with the team, how has your journey been so far?

My journey so far at Tugela People has been epic! I've been able to get hands-on, high-level experience in such a short period of time, and I'm excited for what's to come.

The company culture is phenomenal, and I couldn't be happier.

How do you envision your future with the company?

Contrary to what the popular adage says, "the sky is not the limit" when it comes to what I envision. The future is exceptionally bright with Tugela People, and I look forward to being a part of their ongoing magical success.

What makes you 'tick'?

My two lovely little girls, particularly my eldest daughter, who has complex needs and is neurodiverse. She is a constant reminder of inner strength, determination, perseverance, and humour. Without sounding too cheesy, she's my ray of sunshine!

Having my two little girls has given me a different perspective on life. After having my second child, I decided to obtain my certification towards becoming a chartered accountant. This involved sitting and preparing for extremely challenging exams (approximately 12), whilst working full time, meeting the relevant work experience requirement and being a full-time mum.

The certification usually takes the average person 3 – 6 years to complete; however, it took me approximately two years. So it goes without saying this was not an easy task—lots of 'blood, sweat and tears along the way. I certainly wouldn't have been able to do this without the support of my loving husband and a constant reminder of my "why - my two lovely girls.
