Sage People Y24.2 Release: What’s New and How It Impacts You

  • Posted on

The Sage People Y24.2 release, coming in October 2024, includes several key updates, including:

  • WX 2.0 enhancements with a better homepage, profile, and performance management;
  • new HR Request options in People Management Workflow;
  • Improved workforce Insights featuring DEI dashboards;
  • a transition to Permission Sets for user management, and
  • a refreshed SFTP service for Payflow integration

These changes and enhancements aim to optimise your Sage People experience and ensure that your HRIS remains a powerful tool in driving organisational success. As your trusted partner, we are here to guide you through these updates, providing the support and expertise needed to fully leverage these improvements.

Key Updates

Among these updates, we’d like to explore three key changes that will have the most significant impact: HR Request Depreciation, Enhanced Domains, and WX2.0

HR Request Deprecation

If your organisation is still using the older HR Request functionality, it’s time to transition to the People Management Workflow (PMW). The legacy HR Requests process, part of the old Workforce eXperience (WX), will be retired with the Y24.2 release—scheduled for sandbox release in August 2024 and production release in October 2024. After this date, you will no longer be able to create new requests using the old HR Requests process in the WX self-service portal.

Comparing HR Requests with People Management Workflow

The People Management Workflow provides a more efficient, user-friendly approach to managing employment changes than the legacy HR Requests process.

Key Differences:

    • Form Structure: Legacy HR Requests use a single, broad form with numerous fields. People Management Workflow employs specialised HR Request Types with targeted fields for each change.
    • Customisation: Each HR Request in People Management Workflow can be customised with a name, icon (not visible in WX after Y23.3), and description, streamlining the process.
    • Bulk Submissions: People Management Workflow allows managers to handle changes for up to 10 direct reports in one request, compared to the legacy system’s requirement to submit individual requests.
    • Enhanced Features: With the Y23.3 and Y23.4 releases, managers can view approval histories and request bonus payments or salary increases as percentages.
    • Approval Processes: People Management Workflow supports the same approval processes as the legacy system but offers greater flexibility by integrating HR Request Types into the approval criteria.

Enhanced Domains

Enhanced Domains is the latest version of Salesforce’s “My Domain” functionality, aligning with current browser and security standards. Salesforce implemented Enhanced Domains for all Sage People systems in February 2023, replacing cloudforce.com URLs with my.salesforce.com. This update simplifies URLs by removing server instance names, making them easier to remember and ensuring stability if the system is moved to a different server.

With Enhanced Domains enabled, all URLs in your Sage People system will feature a company-specific “My Domain” name, for example,  https://our-company.my.salesforce.com/

You can opt out of this change by unchecking the “Automatically deploy enhanced domains’ in the My Domain settings. However, since Enhanced Domains will be mandatory from Winter '24, it’s advisable to prepare for the transition rather than postponing.

Failure to make the required changes before Enhanced Domains are enabled may result in users experiencing access errors, embedded content not displaying, third-party app data access being disrupted, and Single Sign-On integrations potentially failing.

WX 2.0

The WX self-service portal has been upgraded to offer a more modern and responsive layout optimised for desktop, mobile, and tablet use. With the Y24.1 release, the new homepage layout is enabled by default, though the legacy homepage will be temporarily available for organisations that need it. This legacy option will be removed with the Y24.2 release.

The updated portal features a refreshed menu, header, footer, and a new people search function, allowing you to easily find team members across your organisation. The responsive left navigation menu ensures quick access to all WX features and team views.

Additional enhancements include a new profile view for team members and a "My Team" view for managers to efficiently manage their direct reports and processes. The updated homepage also integrates internal communications, community updates, and modern components in a streamlined layout.

The new WX design supports your existing service and process structures and can be implemented without further modifications.
