Sage People Lightning Update – Are you Ready?
Salesforce Lightning, first announced at the 2016 Sage Summit as the next stage of Sage's strategic partnership with Salesforce, has launched.
What is Lightning Experience?
Lightning Experience is the next generation of the Salesforce platform that aims to deliver a new modern user interface and improved navigation.
In terms of Sage People, this means that the look and feel of the HR portal will automatically change from the Salesforce Classic to the Lightning Experience interface. There is no deadline to stop using Classic. You can toggle back to Classic at any time, but new features will only be available in Lightning - an incentive to get to grips with the new interface.
It's worth noting that this update does not impact the self-service portal (WX). It only affects the HR portal so employees across the rest of your organisation won't be affected.
Intuitive and user-friendly
At Tugela, we like the new look and feel, and navigation that this Sage People Lightning update brings to the HR Portal.
We love the fact the dashboards and reports are more intuitive and user-friendly. It is now easier to, not only drag and drop but also stack components on dashboards without having to align them precisely. This new feature gives users much more flexibility in how their dashboards look.
Are you ready for Lightning?
Sage People have various resources available to help users get ready for the change. As a starting point, they suggest:
- Watch the recorded webinar introducing Lightning which includes a demo and Q&As
- Take a look at their useful 'Getting Started' guide which shows the difference between the Classic and Lightning interface
- Refresh your sandbox and take a look at the Lighting Experience
Like any change in an organisation, it does require some management to ensure it is embedded effectively. Thomas Schilling, Managing Director at Tugela People, elaborates:
