Discovering Passion and Inspiration in HR Systems
Welcome to the latest edition of our regular blog series, "Employee Spotlight"! At Tugela People, we believe in recognising the incredible talent that drives our organisation's growth. This series lets us showcase the remarkable individuals who make our workplace a thriving and dynamic environment. Each edition features one outstanding team member, offering an insight into their inspiring journey and unique contributions to our overall success. This month, we are delighted to turn the spotlight on Eleanor Watkins, our newly promoted HRIS Technical Consultant and Project Manager.
An evolving path
"I began my journey with Tugela People in July 2022 as an HRIS technical Support Consultant within the Managed Services division. My primary responsibilities were to provide daily support to six of our retained clients operating the Sage People HRIS.
Recently, I was thrilled to receive a promotion to HRIS Technical Support Consultant / Project Manager. In this new role, I have now taken on the added responsibility of project managing clients throughout the full implementation of their Human Capital Management (HCM) system. I am also responsible for looking after Short Order Queue (SOQ) requests. These are when clients require system changes, such as adding new functionality or modifying existing features, that fall outside the main implementation of Sage HR modules and require a project-based approach, unlike regular managed service support tickets. I continue to provide dedicated support to my retained clients within managed services, ensuring their day-to-day operations run smoothly. Embracing this multifaceted role, I now have the privilege of capturing every phase of a client's experience, from their initial introduction to Sage People all the way through to providing exceptional aftercare. It's truly rewarding to be involved in the entirety of our client's journey and contribute to their success with our services and support".
Your background and why Tugela People?
"Before joining Tugela People, my background primarily involved administration roles. However, my journey led me to a Human Resources (HR) Admin position, which I thoroughly enjoyed due to its generalist nature. The company then decided to implement Sage People, which ignited my passion for the more technical aspects of HR involving systems and processes.
This newfound interest inspired me to explore this field further, leading me to discover Tugela People. From my first conversation with the company, I knew this was an amazing organisation with fantastic values that genuinely cared for their employees and personal growth."
How's your journey with the company been?
"My journey here has been incredible and unlike any other experience at my past companies. The management team here are second to none, providing unmatched support and encouragement.
Moreover, I must mention how wonderful all my colleagues are, ready to support you when required and always a friendly face to speak to when needed. Tugela People truly provides all the support one could ask for, making it an incredible company to be a part of".
What's your vision for the future?
"I'm thrilled about the prospect of expanding my knowledge because we are continuously exposed to new learning opportunities, which contribute to our personal and professional development.
Tugela People presents many exciting opportunities, and I can't wait to see where this journey leads me. The future is brimming with possibilities, and I am enthusiastic about exploring them all".
What inspires and drives your passions beyond work?
"My family first! My top priorities are my husband, Daniel, and our two children, Brayden (12) and Isla (3). We added a large puppy called Rollo, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, into the household last year, which keeps me very busy after work hours.
Aside from my family, we are avid travellers and have a passion for Japanese sports cars. We have a project/toy tucked away in the garage, reserved for sunny days, and you will always find us at any car shows we can manage to attend.
I am also learning how to speak German, which I am really enjoying".
