Latest Sage Business Cloud People Poseidon Release

The Greek god theme continues with the latest Poseidon release announced by Sage People this week. It comes hot on the heels of the Odyssey release in April.

And here at Tugela People we are very excited about the Poseidon release not only because it delivers big enhancements to the user experience, but also because it overhauls the absence calculator to give better visibility on absenteeism. And importantly in light of the new GDPR regulatory regime it includes security enhancements for better data protection processes so that compliance is simplified.

Poseidon was installed in customer sandboxes in early June and the production release will follow in late June.

The Sage Business Cloud People Poseidon release includes:

  • WX UI Refresh – screen space is increased through a redesigned People Bar hidden by default; further WX service bar enhancements
  • Talent Acquisition Security Enhancements – security improvements have been added to the candidate and agency portals and the ability to disable the sending of resumes via email to prevent download
  • Absence Calculator Refactor –  refactored for speed, reliability, and configuration
  • Work Schedules – support for flexible working patterns and different hours per day
  • System Admin Enhancements – policy page cleaned up and made simpler with intelligent validation

Exciting times as Sage Business Cloud People continues to improve and finetune elements as part of their continued commitment to deliver a highly effective people management solution.

New Sage People Recruit Implementation Project

We were delighted to meet the team at CCP Games, a video game developer and publisher based in Reykjavik, Iceland this week. Tugela People will be helping them with their Sage People Recruit implementation project over the next 4 months.

Fairsail Recruit Implementation Partner

What is Sage People Recruit?

Sage People Recruit is a robust Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) cloud based application. It enables HR Managers to better manage their recruiting procedure. This intuitive applicant tracking system allows managers to find, filter and manage the whole candidate life cycle.

Sage People Recruit can handle the entire recruitment process, from specifying the initial vacancy requirement, right up to the final offer stage. It can also assist with advertising the position, tracking applications and getting interview feedback. It can even integrate vacancies on websites using one or more Recruit Candidate Portals, plus enable recruitment agencies to submit candidate details in a controlled way through the Recruit Agency Portal.

Expert Implementation Management

We look forward to helping improve CCP Games’ HR efficiency using Recruit’s various innovative functions (like the automated job postings, requisition management, applicant tracking and the new instant messaging) so that they can have more control and improve the overall experience for candidates.

Their dedicated implementation project manager will use a partnership approach with our structured methodology to deliver the agreed outcomes in the agreed timeframe, and ensure that they maximise their ROI by using Sage People Recruit to its full potential.

Poor Absence Management is Damaging Welfare & Productivity

Whilst reading this excellent report by Ellipse and Professor Cary Cooper, CBE, I was struck by the staggering cost of absenteeism on UK business, some £32 billion a year according to PwC, 2011. As an aside I also learnt a new word ‘wickie’, which by the way is a ‘working sickie’ (adapted from sickie).

Besides the financial cost of not actively managing absence, early intervention can improve people’s health as well as reducing the employer risks associated with long-term illness according to the Ellipse report.

Critical is an employer’s ability to track and monitor employee absences. Prof Cooper says: “Any employer who is not able to cite their absence rates is failing to control their risks and may well be neglecting employee welfare.”

Similarly while recording absence assists with managing absences, well configured workflows based on specific milestones could assist managers and HR to manage absences according to the companies’ absence policy. Prof Cooper states in the Ellipse report that while nearly all (90%) line managers say that a formal procedure exists, nearly half (41%) admit that they do not follow it though.

With more and more employees adopting flexible working arrangements (e.g. working from home)it also makes tracking absence more challenging, but at the same time Prof Cooper says that flexible working would reduce the hours lost to sickness.
